PVD Sputtering technology
The best antifriction coatings
Sputtering deposition is a PVD process in which the material is vaporized from a surface called target through physical sputtering, i.e. a non-thermal vaporization of the material: the surface atoms of the target are physically extracted from the solid surface thanks to the energy transferred to them by a bombing of atomic particles.
Reference technology for anti-friction coatings
As shown in the video, the bombardment is generated by ions created by low pressure plasma and in this case the extracted particles undergo few collisions between the source and the substrate.
The atoms emitted and the reactive gases added in this process create a very smooth coating: it is the reference technology for the production of the best antifriction coatings such as WC/C or MOVIC.
